Frequently asked questions
Q) What if my team don't enjoy the music making experience?
A) They will. Everyone always does.
Q) Yes, but what if they don't?
A) When presented with an African drum/percussion instrument/boom whacker, participants don't feel threatened in the way that they can do with some other arts-based group activities; people really want to have a go at it and the sense of fun and excitement when the team gets into the groove is highly infectious. Even those who didn't expect to will find themselves getting lost in the immediate and enjoyable music making experience. (see testimonials)
Q) Okay, well you would say that wouldn't you? But how can I be sure this would be the right sort of activity for my team?
A) We're so confident in our facilitators that if you aren't completely satisfied we won't charge you a penny.
Q) And how do you put people at their ease who are anxious about not having a sense of rhythm?
A) Break everyone in gently, building up very simple parts to make a meaningful and engaging whole, and re-assure participants that they are always free to take part or just observe if they want to...
Q)I'm planning a really big conference event- how many could you cater for?
A) providing a good sound system is available for large capacity venues, there is no upper limit- we just arrange for additional equipment as necessary and bring along enough facilitators to make sure everyone is well attended to. Boom whackers are often a favourite choice for larger events as one can provide for in excess of 1000 quite easily and cost effectively.
Q) The dynamics in my team are not straightforward... there may be strong tensions between certain individuals and I'm concerned there may one or two participants seeking to sabotage the process of the day's activities. What would you recommend?
A) We would suggest a confidential consultation session to discuss any possible issues in advance, so that our experienced facilitators are aware of any situations which might arise.
Q) Do you ever work outside the UK?
A) Yes. International travel is not a problem; we might opt for a more readily transportable instrument like boom whackers to keep your costs down.
Q) Could you put on a non-participatory show as part of an overall day?
A) Yes. We have arranged various line-ups in the past, from a traditional style African drumming troupe to ensembles which include double bass, saxophone, piano etc. Let us know what sort of thing you want!
